A Family’s Legacy Continues

Throughout his life, Joe L. Dudley Sr. has struggled and worked hard for everything in his life. He overcame education hardships by studying and staying determined. He conquered his stuttering affliction by practicing words out of the dictionary as his wife Eunice slept. He proved to the non-believers in his life that he would be a successful entrepreneur. And to think, Dudley Q’s Haircare & Cosmetics came to life in a tiny kitchen back in 1967.

Dudley Q’s Haircare & Cosmetics is “The American Dream” success story. Joe L. Dudley Sr. knew it would be successful, but it was going to take a lot of hard work. He whole-heartedly wanted to stay true and loyal to salon professionals. After much thought and consideration, he started playing chemist in the kitchen. He toyed around with ingredients, tried out numerous recipes until he got the perfect concoction, ratio and consistency. For mixing, he would use recycled jugs, and he would scrounge about for used mayonnaise jars to package his goods. After staying up all night creating and packaging the products with his family, he would wake up and go door to door selling his goods. He tirelessly organized a sales team who not only believed in him, but also his line. 

After 42 years of dedication and solid belief in his products, Joe L. Dudley Sr. is passing the torch to his eldest daughter, Ursula Dudley Oglesby. Who better to take on the legacy than one of his children who has witnessed the powers that be at a very early age in life? Ursula has stirred, sniffed, packaged, boxed and pushed the product since she was a little girl. For her, this is only the beginning.

Since Dudley Q’s Haircare & Cosmetics mission is to enrich people’s lives while helping cosmetologists build their businesses, Oglesby is becoming increasingly more passionate about education, and it shows. Between July 31 – August 2, 2010, you can earn up to 12 CE hours by attending the Educational & Motivational Symposium in Greenboro, North Carolina. There, you will have the opportunity to learn from the best educators and network with other stylists who are passionate about the industry. It is an opportunity to experience hands-on education and get sound advice from a dynamic panel of celebrity stylists.

Joe L. Dudley Sr. has worked hard and built his company from the ground up. Instead of selling what he has created to a larger entity, he has chosen to keep a family legacy and tradition going. What daughter wouldn’t want to follow in her father’s successful footsteps!
